Tis The Season

Oh yes it has come around again so soon.  Or you could say it is here already.

If you are anything like me, you haven't even started buying gifts.  There are only 38 days left so guess I need to get my head in the game.

Apart from buying presents it is that time of year where i am on the hunt again for the Christmas Party Dress..  This is an event in itself, and this year I have 3 parties to grace with my presence.  well 4 really but i don't think a sexy little number will do for bowling.

And so the dilemma unfolds 3 parties, does this mean i need 3 dresses?  I would like to say yes, but then I think of the presents I need to buy and, well, I guess maybe 2 will do ;-)

I am looking forward to one of the parties more than the others.... no I wont say which one... it's my secret..

But lets not lose sight of the true celebration of Christmas shall we.  In this day and age we seem to get swept up in all the lights and temptations that the "Silly Season " has on offer..  Many people think I am a terrible person because I told both my children from a very early age that there is no Santa... I find it extrordinary how so many parents go along with this magical man who jets around the world giving presents to all the good children..... and well you see although this seems all innocent, it puts so much pressure on parents to be able to deliver to their children what they have sent to Santa on their list..  I have seen close friends and family get close to breaking point this time of year worrying if they will be able to make their children's dreams come true and give them what they want...

Christmas is about sharing not only gifts but love and time with those we hold close to our hearts, granted sometimes that is almost impossible as distance prevents it or perhaps family feuds.

I decided to take the honest route and tell my children plainly that we can all be a Santa to someone, Santa isn't some jolly fat bloke in a red suit with magical reindeer flying all over the world jumping down chimneys, no we can be a Santa, and each year I encourage them to do just that.  They go through their toys and put aside those items that they no longer play with but are still in perfect condition and we donate it to a children's refuge centre where they get to wake up on Christmas morning and have a present to open.  I teach my children to share their love and kindness and teach them that Christmas isn't about how many gifts you get but rather what you can give to make someone else smile.  And every year we celebrate the wonderful gift we were all given so many many years ago, and it is a gift that keeps on giving...
